The Client

Margot’s Mission is a compassionate charity organization dedicated to supporting parents navigating pregnancy and early infant loss. Founded by the Miles family in memory of their daughter, Margot Soren Miles, who was lost at 19 weeks, the organization was born from an intimate place of grief—and a desire to fill empty hands with purpose.

Through the restorative practices of baking and weaving, Margot’s Mission offers bereaved parents tangible comfort in the form of homemade sourdough bread, lovingly nurtured starters, and handwoven blankets. Each offering is paired with heartfelt, handwritten notes, creating moments of connection during a season that often feels isolating and dark.

The Objectives

The primary goal of this project was to create a from-scratch visual identity and digital presence that honored the tenderness of grief while offering a sense of hope, warmth, and purpose. The brand needed to feel accessible, deeply empathetic, and grounded in meaning. The website was designed to clearly communicate the mission, invite community support, and gently guide users through learning, giving, and participating—while remaining sensitive to the audience it serves.

The Approach

Every design decision for Margot’s Mission was shaped by symbolism and intention. The mushroom—an organism that thrives in darkness—became the heart of the brand identity, representing the Miles family’s belief that even in life’s deepest shadows, growth and healing are possible.

An earthy, grounded color palette was selected to evoke warmth, calm, and stability, while hand-drawn illustrations and organic textures reinforced the “hands-on” nature of the mission. Typography and layout were kept soft and restrained, allowing space for reflection and emotional breathing room.

The website experience was designed to feel like a quiet exhale—inviting visitors in with clarity, compassion, and thoughtful pacing. From storytelling to calls-to-action, the digital experience gently guides users toward involvement while honoring the sensitivity of the audience it serves.

Together, the brand identity and website create a cohesive, heartfelt foundation for Margot’s Mission—one that allows grief to coexist with purpose, and sorrow to be met with care.
